The Bell & Compass

Picture of The Bell & Compass

A change of name, but not much has changed from its previous incarnation as The Griffin. Like many pubs in the vicinity, this is a pine laden, high-tabled after-office magnet that pulls in crowds of professionals and is often standing-room only. At the weekends it fills with tourists looking for Trafalgar Square. It's the sort of place where Sky One would shoot a saucy late-night fly-on-the-wall documentary series ("next week in The Bell and Compass, Dave takes his personal problems out on the till, whilst Amy finds something fruity in her Bacardi Breezer!").
